Mini Art Show

The South Street Gallery, Scarborough, are hosting their 2nd Mini Art Show soon and I will be entering 7 post-card sized paintings this year! The exhibition runs from February 17th (12 till 5pm)  to Sunday 3rd April 2011, ending at 4pm. . Last year's show was a great success, with many of the paintings being sold on the opening night (one of mine included!) Let's hope this year is just as good, especially since the gallery will be donating £1 to St Catherine's Hospice for each postcard sold.

You can find out more about the South Street Gallery and their future exhibitions on their website at South Street Gallery. Alternatively, join them on their Facebook Page here.

Here are the paintings I will be entering - some of which I have created solely for this exhibition.

Octavia - latest painting

I have just uploaded my latest creation, entitled "Octavia", to my personal website at www.helendavison.co.uk and on my Facebook page and onto my gallery at Affordable British Art.

I painted the background in cadmium red acrylic and an acrylic interference medium in red, followed by an ultramarine section at the base of the two canvases. This was then decorated with 4 semi-abstract flower designs on each canvas, using some black electrical cable for the stems of each flower. The petals of the two larger flowers were individually cut from funky foam, shaped to fit around a couple of vintage buttons as the centre of the flower, and embellished with some metallic acrylic dots. The smaller of the flowers on each canvas was created using a small red button at the heart of each flower head, and the petals were painted using blue metallic acrylic paint. Each of these petals was then filled in with some 3D acrylic paint in red.

Measuring just 5x7 inches each canvas, they make a lovely Christmas gift! They would have been for sale at the Christmas Craft Fair, if it hadn't been cancelled!

Paintings sold within 24 hours of uploading

I have sold two of my most recently uploaded watercolour paintings within 24 hours of listing them on the Affordable British Art website. By now they should be with their new owner as I posted them off yesterday morning. "Blue Abscape 1" and "Blue Abscape 2" were the smaller of the four watercolour landscape paintings I produced.

New Watercolour paintings

I have recently uploaded 4 watercolour paintings which I completed a few years ago but have never had for sale online - I discovered them again last week when I was sorting out which paintings to take to the exhibition in Cookham! You can see all four of them on the Affordable British Art website

Rogue Gene Collective Exhibition at Cookham

This is just a quick check-in to say how much I enjoyed the weekend down in Cookham, Berkshire, for the Rogue Gene Collective Art Exhibition/Sale. Meeting up with the fellow members is always a  real tonic and this time it was especially good as I got to meet Andrea for the first time! It was like meeting up with family members again, actually - you know, the ones you miss when you don't see for ages!

Before I write my version of the weekend on here, I thought I'd just share a photo of me at my stand, just to let you see me at work, as it were!!!!

I will write a more detailed account of the week-end tomorrow when I have more time.
